No MP3 under F3

Post by *Sam_Zen »

I tested some Lister plugins and removed them again, and now F3 can't play Mp3's anymore. (wav-file still works)
Is my TC-ini file messed up ?

I don't think that this is related to lister plugin installation, but to a problem with the media player. Try this to fix it:

On Windows 98, open the file win.ini in the windows directory, and look
under header [MCI Extensions] add a line like this:
mp3=MPEGVideo

It should point to the same codec as other similar types.

On Windows 2000/XP, start regedit and go to the following key location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI Extensions

Here, add a new string value named

mp3

with contents

MPEGVideo

I think you're right about the media player. (running 2K)
String value mp3 was present, but with contents MPEGVideo2.

These troubles exist, since I installed DirectX9. This disturbed the system's balance heavily and I had
lots of difficulties removing it again.
