Move to command line without mouse

Post by *djorge »

Sometimes i need to execute a program with parameters. I select the exe and press CTRL-ENTER so the file appears in the command line. As i have the quick search fetature configured with "letter - with search dialog" i need to move the focus to the command line with the mouse to be able to write the parameters.

I have searched the help and find nothing.
This is somehow non-productive. Is there a short-key so that i can avoid the mouse?

Regards,

...or Shift-Left/Right if horizontal bar is visible or in brief mode.

From the TC Help under "Command line: keys"
Cursor keys
Cursor left and cursor right move the cursor through the command line, even if the cursor was in the source directory before. If brief was selected, these keys move the cursor through the source directory. You then have to hold down SHIFT to move it inside the command line.
Cursor up and cursor down move the cursor bar inside the source window, even if it was inside the command line.
To get there do a search for "command line" - or click on "Help" -> "Keyboard" -> Ctrl+End -> Click on "command line"

Hi,

CTRL+Down opens the command line (and shows the last typed command).

With this you can also scroll trough your command history (hold down CTRL+Up or Down) - or just type in a new command :)

You also can use cm_FocusCmdLine command (set hotkey with this command and enjoy ;))

Thanks for this, I found it here faster than I found it in the help file! :)

You may also define your own hotlkey under Configuration->Options->Misc
the command is'cm_FocusCmdLine' with number 4003.

In my copy (9.0a), Left/Right act as PgUp/PgDn. I tried what was suggested in this thread -- set panes to full view or hide button bar or function keys bar -- but both have no effect. I also checked that there are no key reassignments for Left/Right.

If I delete wincmd.ini, the keys start to act as they should, so it's definitely some setting. What other settings govern this behaviour?

__Vano,
SpecialCursorMovement=0 New cursor movement mode. Sum of the following:
1: Left key jumps to first file, right key to last
2: Left key goes one directory up, right key opens directory/archive under cursor.
4: Override horizontal scrollbar in custom columns view. If this option isn't set, the cursor will jump only to the first file if the horizontal scrollbar is already at the leftmost position.
8: Jump one page up/down instead of jumping to the first/last file

Setting the parameter to 0 fixed it. Thanks!

I noticed that left/right don't switch focus to the command line in the custom column view. Is there a way to fix it? SpecialCursorMovement is already 0.
TC 9.0a.
