[½ OT] Friendly tip…

:) Hello !

 Damned viruses !
- Just a friendly tip a bit off-topic :
• Even if you are not using a lot of PCs, you might install a NAT-router, this is not a too ruinous hardware… The most have a built-in very efficient firewall.
- I've installed one since almost one year (for other reasons), and now I no longer see the tip of the tail of any virus in my PCs. :D

 Kind regards,
Claude

When it comes to hardware router I can recommend the following:

I use for almost 2 years now an old 386 PC without Harddisc, just with a Network card and an ISDN Card.

OS is the fabulous Fli4L - a linux based Operating system that runs from a 1,44 MB Disc. Although the website is currently in german (just since there is a new version 3.0 -I'm still using 2.1) the new fli4l is multilingual. Now it's claimed that it supports eglish, german, dutch, french, hungarian.

After installing and testing the router I have even removed the graphic card. Works really great.

I've also used a router software for almost 3 years.

It was the great Freesco minidistro. So easy to install, so powerful if you need it.

It has been running in a 486 100Mhz, and when it broke, it run during some time on a Pentium 166, both of them with optimal results.

So if Sheepdog's suggestion doesn't fit your needs, try Freesco.

Now I replaced it with a hardware router (a wifi-capable US Robotics), mainly to save energy costs.
