By using the encryption enhanced WCMZIP32.DLL I can encrypt and decrypt files in zip archives - no ploblems in that...
But if I edit an encrypted file within the archive, then my external (DOS) zip packer (as indicated in pkzip.pif) is used for repacking the edited file.
Is that by design, or could it be avoided? I think quite a lot of users might not even have an external DOS zip packer anymore.

Sorry, currently internal repacking is not supported for encrypted zip files.
