There would be nice to have additional information panel. It would show a preview of the focused item in the pane, depending on the content. Here could be thumbnail picture or lister view.

See (fake) screenshots: img1 img2 img3

Alternatively there could be written information from custom fields from content plugins.
I’m sure that it will be more uses of such panel
So what do you think?

Isn't cm_SrcQuickview what you're looking for ?

Just add
MENUITEM "&QuickView\tSTRG+Q", cm_SrcQuickview
to your WCMD_xxx.mnu

There are
cm_LeftQuickview
cm_RightQuickview

also.

I support such an additional quickview window. The suggestion was originally discussed here: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=4153

The main purpose is to browse and manage images just like in the classic ACDSee view. Normally this means a tree above the preview window and thumbnail view on the right side.

Thumbs are too small for a real preview and quick view hides a complete panel.

I think that this proposal still rocks, even after all the years that have passed. Now with separate trees attached, there's enough room available.

My preferred hotkey for this feature:
Ctrl+Shift+Q, fits perfectly! :)

Not really because it depends on your settings.
