Re: Add 'Everything' hotkey in the "Find Files" menu
Well, it just goes to show how handy it would be to have a key shortcut in the Find Files windows for Everything. Much easier to turn off Everything within TC than to go to the Everything options and turn that "Match whole filename when using wildcards" option on and off a couple of times a day.

You don't have to switch this on or off in Everything.ymmv wrote: ↑2021-07-08, 17:50 UTC Well, it just goes to show how handy it would be to have a key shortcut in the Find Files windows for Everything. Let it off in Everything and you can use the Everything options "wholefilename:" or "nowholefilename:"
in your search to turn it on or off.
For most of your searches you will never need it switched on.

I can confirm that disabling this option fixes the problem.Try this setting in 'Everything':
Menu "Tools" - "Options..." - "Search":
[ ] Match whole filename when using wildcards
Pay attention to the tooltip for this option.
Does the problem still exist?

Re: Add 'Everything' hotkey in the "Find Files" menu
The reason is the different way Total Commander and Everything find files:
*12.* in Total Commander finds both
test12.txt
and
test12
because Total Commander assumes a dot at the end of the name.
*12.* in Everything (try with ed:*12.*) only finds
test12.txt
*12 in Everything (try with ed:*12) only finds
test12
I think the best solution would be to change the pattern sent to Everything to *12* (note the missing dot) and then do the secondary matching in TC to remove invalid matches like test12a.txt or test12a

Re: Add 'Everything' hotkey in the "Find Files" menu
Actually there is a number of cases when Everything just doesn't return any results but TC search does (I don't know exactly when but I think that sometimes Everything's index becomes outdated), and in such cases I have to disable Everything. But unfortunately "Everything" checkbox has hardcoded nontranslated name and English shortcut won't help much if user has e.g. Russian layout and all other shortcuts.
Re: Add 'Everything' hotkey in the "Find Files" menu
This could have to do with settings in 'Everything', e.g. Folder Indexing ? ...
OR perhaps also with a topic like this -> Constantly have to "Force Rebuild"
I can highly recommend you the latest Everything 1.5 Alpha version (x64)
PS:
If you were to report your problem in the Everything forum, I am sure that it would be solved within a very short time [by the author].
An 'Everything' user should normally NOT have to switch off the 'Everything' option in TC when making a search query in Total Commander.

How to make a full switch to 1.5?

Re: Add 'Everything' hotkey in the "Find Files" menu
I don't understand how to underline the letter.tuska wrote: ↑2021-07-08, 13:14 UTCMy suggestion for this is the following:
In the "Find files" window, under the option 'Everything' --> underline the letter "g" --> if possible, you should see the underline then.
For all other letters, i.e. "Everythin" there are already underscores in this window - at least as far as I could see.
To do this, I went to menu "Configuration" - "Options..." - "Language" to select different languages.
Re: Add 'Everything' hotkey in the "Find Files" menu
I said, "if possible". (The author would have to set this up...)
In the "Find Files" dialogue, for example, the letter "Y" is also underlined on the "Advanced" tab -> System.
Apart from that, I can only think of the following:
Below 'Everything' a character that could be called up with the Alt key or [ ]on/[ ]off.
Re: Add 'Everything' hotkey in the "Find Files" menu
You cannot do it in this case, the string 'Everything' is hardcoded in TC exe.

It's embarrassing how the author ignores such elementary suggestions.
Re: Add 'Everything' hotkey in the "Find Files" menu
Me think you are mistaken in that general thinking.

This suggestion was posted a year and a half ago. Steel waiting for 10a, maybe @ghisler(Author) comes down to us someday.
