Help for Compare By Content: key combis (german+english)

Post by *StatusQuo »

In help for "Compare By Content" under
  • Dialogbox: Inhalte vergleichen (nur 32-bit Version):
in german help there is a paragraph on the end, listing key combinations and explaining what they will do.
  • In english help this is missing completely.
  • In german help some lines only describe how the key combinations work while the new Edit mode is disabled.
Missing in german help:
Strg+V, Umsch+Einf Kopierten Text einfügen
Differences in Edit mode:
Einf Zeile markieren
Not in Edit mode (here Shift-cursor is used, like in other editors).
Linke/rechte Pfeiltaste Bildlauf um 1 Zeichen nach links/rechts
Not in Edit mode.
Alt+Links/Rechts Bildlauf um 30 Zeichen nach links/rechts
Not in Edit mode (here it is: "Alt+Links/Rechts Zeile/markierten Text nach links/rechts kopieren").
Strg+Links/Rechts Springe zum nächsten/vorherigen Wort
Only in Edit mode.

Other:
F7 Suchen
This could be mentioned in the same line as Strg+F, because it's the same function?

[Edit]Subject + first line changed from "MRT" to "Compare By Content" - my mistake, sorry.[/Edit]

while the new Edit mode is disabled
What edit mode do you mean? The opening of the new names in a separate editor?

Of course the hotkeys do not apply to that editor. It's simply notepad.exe by default, but you can define a different editor if you prefer.

I think StatusQuo mixed compare by contents and multi rename tool for unknown reasons. The report concerns the compare by contents help.

Ah, I see. I will remove the hotkey description from the German help.

Yep, "Compare by contents" was meant, sorry.

Hm, that would be a real shame, IMO. I like this information a lot - context-sensitive help, exactly where it's needed!
How about adding a short paragraph "In Edit mode these keys have different functionality:"?

I could perhaps write a draft for this, if you like...

I have split it now into 3 sections: One valid for both modes, one for edit mode, and one for read only mode.
