[TC 9.5x 32bit] Missing "Value" field in config: Colors by file type

Post by *StatusQuo »

ComboBox "Value" is not displayed for several properties in dialog "define selection" when editing existing entries for "Colors by file type".
Screenshot
To reproduce:

Configuration > Options > Color > Define colors by file type > Add > Define > Tab Plugins
[X] Search in plugins
tc > directory > = > Yes
Save-button > (enter a name like "Test_def") > OK (once is enough, can immediately be tested without further saving)

Now check the result (optional: while still in dialog "specify file type"):
(select newly created type "Test_def") > Define > Tab Plugins
=> field "Value" (="Yes") is not displayed (only its heading)

Edit: Also reproducible in Alt+F7 search: posting below.

Ways to let the missing "Value" field appear again (it's hidden again after closing/reopening color file type definition dialog):
- switching the "Property" field to something else and back
- maximizing the window (or restoring, if it was already maximized)
- changing the X-size of the window

Tested properties:
- missing field "Value" (+ display auto-switches to tab "Plugins"):
  • archive
  • read-only
  • hidden
  • system
  • directory
  • compressed
  • encrypted
  • sparse
  • offline
  • file type
  • case sensitive name
  • case sensitive in folder
- OK (+ display auto-switches to tab "Plugins"):
  • size
- OK (no auto-switch to tab "Plugins", tab "General" is activated by default):
  • the rest: fullname, name, ext, dosname, comment, path, creationdate, creationtime, writedate, writetime, accessdate, accesstime, attributes, attributestr, versionstring, versionnr, random number, decode html characters (*), path length

TC 9.50 beta 1 .. 9.51 RC2, 32bit only (in 64bit TC this works as expected, showing "Value" field correctly); Win7 x64, clean INI
Works as expected in TC 9.22a.

Confirmed in 32bit TC 9.51 RC2 under Windows WP, 7 and 10
I don't have to go via the Define colors dialog - It also happens If I just open the Find files dialog (Alt+F7) and load a saved search that uses the built-in TC wdx plugin. When I then click the Plugins tab, the value field is mising (testet with values "compressed" and "encrypted")

Cannot confirm it in Windows XP when creating a new search. I have no saved search with wdx use. Could you provide a step-by-step instruction?

  1. Open the "Find files" dialog (Alt+F7).
  2. Click on the "Plugins" tab.
  3. In the property column choose "compressed".
  4. Click on the "Load/Save" tab.
  5. Click on the "Save" button.
  6. Enter a Template name - for example Test.
  7. Close the find files dialog and reopen it.
  8. Click on the "Load/Save" tab.
  9. In "Previous searches" find and click on Test
  10. Click on the "Load" button.
  11. Click on the "Plugins" tab.
  12. The "Value" field is missing
It has to be a Property whith a dropdown list for the Value, not a Property with a text field - see the tested properties in the first post-

Now confirmed.

I have observed that some search definitions displayed by TC on "Load/Save" tab are wrong.
I have defined "Compressed" and "Read only" searches using attributes in "Advanced" tab.
For "Read only" TC displays proper definition:

Code: Select all

"*.*", +r
For "Compressed" TC displays definition without attribute:

Code: Select all

"*.*"

For "Compressed" TC displays definition without attribute:
This should not be the case, if you add this to the above instructions after step 2:
  • set checkmark "[X] Search in plugins"
(otherwise plugin settings may be existing, but not applied for searching). After setting the checkmark here it says:

Code: Select all

"*.*", plugins:tc.compressed = 1

You did NOT read my description carefully.
1. I confirmed your findings about buggy search in plugins.
2. However, I did find another bug - in advanced search.

For "Compressed" TC displays definition without attribute:
Confirmed, that the status line in the Load/Save tab of the "Find files" dialog does not show filtering with compresssed nor encrypted attribute.

Sorry, you are right - I overlooked the "Compressed" checkbox in advanced tab.
For "Compressed" TC displays definition without attribute:
Confirmed, for "[X] Compressed" and "[X] Encrypted" in Advanced tab.

Currently there is no preview for
- compressed
- encrypted
- all the text search options

I will add preview for the first two, but not for the text search options.
