Ignoring files...

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Confirmed.

Although I do not consider it a bug. A filtered view works in archives, too.e.g.
*.*|descript.ion

I do. Not showing specified files - that's ignore list's purpose, filtering can be used, but it's meant to do something else. And with filtering you have 255 characters limit.

I agree - even in archives - and in FTP where the ignore list doesn't work either.

On the other hand I do think that ignored files in subfolders should be copied with the subfolder.

The ignore lists currently works for the _file system_ - not for plugins, not for ftp, not for archives and not for virtual folders like the desktop. Currently I do not have any plans to change that. I will make a note in the help, though.

Side-effect of ignoring files

Post by *nuncio »

Hi,

Ignoring files is a great feature. But it has an annoying side-effect.
I've set filter for descript.ion files. After a week or so I tried to delete a directory (looking as being empty) and it simply failed, without saying why. I started to examine attributes, rebooted machine etc. Of course without success. Then I realised that it is the ignore-list.
So I suggest, that in such cases user should be informed, that ignored files/dirs exist in such a directory.
