[Bug] pb2, dual trees, and TConsole display anomalies

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[Bug] pb2, dual trees, and TConsole display anomalies

Post by *JohnFredC »

I use the TConsole plugin from time-to-time. With dual trees displayed, it initially appears in the tree pane, NOT the file pane.

To reproduce

(0. Install TConsole)
1. Display dual trees.
2. Navigate to My Network PLaces
3. Select TConsole

Console appears directly in the tree.

4. Hide dual trees

Console appears in the file list pane

5. Display dual trees

Console remains in the file list pane.

This bug has been fopund during the alpah test by the author of TConsole. The plug-in makes expectations about certain windows created by TC which don't work in TC 7.

Indeed the author of TConsole will have to adapt it to TC7, but he has already written that he will not do this. So you have the choice between using separate trees, and TConsole.

...or just hiding/showing the trees a couple of times to move the console to the proper panel.

Not a big deal. I was just reporting it.

But consider:

If tree visibility was per tab, I could just leave TConsole open on a tab without a tree, switching to another tab (whose own tree remains visible) when necessary.

The productivity gain for associating tree visibility with individual tabs (instead of the TC window) is very great. You really should try setting TC up that way. You always have the tree when you need it, and it isn't there (and doesn't take up screen space) when you don't...
