Home Alone: Absent Parent and Child, Moving to Adjacent Folders
[Not necessarily just TC95b5 but TC for a while now. Maybe a good time.]
I've noticed for some time that when you move a file(s) to a parent or child folder in the same list panel, the target folder doen't get entered in the history: it's absent when you do it again.
There is an entry in Move/Rename history - but it's blank.
You can use the folder name or .. for the parent, but it makes no difference.
FYI.
I see that parents receive special treatment in TC: you can select one for deletion with files, but fortunately, it's deselected before the action's invoked.

The history only records directories which are listed in TC. When you copy to .. without going there, it's not put in the history.

That's a pity. It's contrary to user expectations, is it not?ghisler(Author) wrote: ↑2019-11-20, 17:50 UTC The history only records directories which are listed in TC. When you copy to .. without going there, it's not put in the history.
Convenience. Memory jogger/usage reminder. Break with standard behaviour.

Phred,
Well, it's a history of visited directories, not a history of directories where some file operations have been performed. I would not expect it to be there.

Re: Home Alone: Absent Parent and Child, Moving to Adjacent Folders
I'm surprised you say that Roman. If it's not a history of where we've renamed/moved/copied files to, shouldn't it be?
NB If it's not a record, why does a move to ../parent seemingly leave a blank line in the list? It seems like standard treatment (though failed) to me.
We see history 'drop-downs' in many places in our GUIs. We see Recently added and Most used in Windows' Start menu, file selection collections in TC's 'Synchronize', the history of visited locations, of course, in TCs History, jump lists in Windows apps and programs. History is pervasive, and we expect it to be.
A drop-down is an aide-mémoire; the drop-down here surely, is an aide-histoire?

Re: Home Alone: Absent Parent and Child, Moving to Adjacent Folders
Phred,
Roman
To me it's a history of the dirs I've visited (whose contents I saw) in the file panels. Just to confirm, we're talking about the Alt-Down menu, right? If it's not a history of where we've renamed/moved/copied files to, shouldn't it be?

Re: Home Alone: Absent Parent and Child, Moving to Adjacent Folders
Nope, Roman,
It's the 'drop-down assist' in the dialogue box for Rename/Move - where you can choose a target folder from a list; Alt-down there.
Move/Rename history. Parents and children are omitted.

Phred,
I see. My apologies and never mind my answers then.
