New option "Append \" not mutually exclusive with square brackets

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

New option "Append \" not mutually exclusive with square brackets

Post by *Bozzy »

In 9.50 final I've found that checking the new option "Append \" will uncheck "Show square brackets [] around directories", but not vice-versa.
BTW, I don't see anything wrong with having both options enabled, so maybe the best solution here is to remove mutual exclusivity of these options.

OT: in the "File system extensions (plugins)" section of the website, the "Cloud" plugin is listed as version 2.1, while 2.2 is available.

You can actually enable both, but in my opinion it looks ugly.
Just check "Append \" first, then check "Show square brackets [] around directories".

This is on purpose so only people who really want both use both.

Already discussed here: viewtopic.php?p=361869#p361869
IMHO this proves that it is a rather strange behaviour, users may find it illogical and some of them may file a bug report (at least the more technically oriented ones), nevertheless I understand the point and for me it's perfectly ok. I'll never check them both anyway

P.S. there's still the Cloud plugin marked as 2.1 while it's 2.2 now (here: https://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm#filesys)
