[TC 10 RC1] - Windows Hello - The parameter is incorrect

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC 10 RC1] - Windows Hello - The parameter is incorrect

Post by *Shosho »

Hi,

I am using TC 10 RC1 64 bits on WIndows Insider build 21382.1.amd64fre.co_release.210511-1416.
I am using PIN to login to Windows so Hello is working fine from Windows point of view.
I created one SFTP connection (with plugin 2.80 beta 4), check "Protect password" and then I checked "Use Windows Hello to keep password stored".
After clicking OK and I getting one message box with the following error:

Code: Select all

Error executing program! (-2146893785)
NCryptEncrypt

"The parameter is incorrect."
After clicking OK, SFTP connection window is closed and I'm back to TC. Clicking back to connection to start it opens the windows to enter password where Hello is the only one checked and then cliking on OK I am getting the same error. If I click on OK button on message box the connection initiate but obviously it failed because the password is not know.

Sorry, insider builds are not supported, they often break a lot of functions.

I have updated my old insider build now, actually to a newer version than you have: build 21390.co_release.210521-1658.
Windows Hello works fine with Total Commander. I do not use a Microsoft account, and enabled a PIN via
Settings - Accounts - Sign-in options - Windows Hello PIN.

Either Microsoft fixed it in this build, or you have some kind of misconfiguration.
