background copy: decisions are not remembered

Post by *jcelle »

Steps to reproduce:
- lauch a batch move operation (F2) where many files have a hidden attribute
- TC will stop at the first of these files and ask what to do before deleting the source
- Click the ALL option (meaning that all next files should be managed in the same way without TC asking)

- TC will ask again and again for each file before deleting. ALL choice seems to be ignored.

Not confirmed. Here is what I tried:
1. Selected some files
2. Menu Files - Change attributes - set 'hidden' attribute
3. Selected the same files again
4. F6 - F2
5. Confirm "Delete all" for the first hidden
-> All files were moved.

Did you add the files one by one with F6 - F2? In this case, TC will add additional commands to the list which set the overwrite flags according to the "options" combobox if the F6 dialog is expanded.

Hello qnd thanks for the clarification.
Indeed, I did several F6-F2 commands (this is why F2 is interesting, you can launch operations in the background and continue adding some more to the same).
If there is a way to make the copy flags global please let me know.
Best regards.

Hello Christian,
Is this a new feature: it looks like I did not have these problems in past versions ?
Being unable to launch long batch operations is really annoying.
Thanks and regards.

Well, the new feature is that you can "pin" open the F5 copy dialog - if that dialog is open, TC will add the overwrite method to the queue every time you add some files to the queue with F2.

So if you don't want the method to be reset, you need to un-"pin" the dialog and only expand it when you need to set the copy options in advance.

Thanks Christian for taking the time to reply.
I am not sure to understand what you mean with this pin feature.

In fact I reverted to version 7.55 and now it works as I expect it to work: any choice done during a transfer background operation is memorized, especially if this choice is called ALL.
It really does not make sense to me to have to come back to my computer and click on ALL several times.

I have just tested this with TC 7.56a, and I don't get the requester for every entry in the list, just for the first. Are you sure you don't have the F5 copy dialog in expanded mode (all extra options visible, just as when you click on "Options" button)?

Absolutely, I have these options expanded, I just don't know how to go back to previous state: options hidden with button "options" visible !
Thanks to have spotted this.

Just click on the button which shows a pin (needle with big plastic head). The pin should move up, which signals that the extended dialog is no longer pinned open.
