TC support for Windows Imaging in thumbnail view?

Post by *Egh »

Does TC support WI codecs when displaying files in thumbmail view?

MS recently released a set of RAW codecs (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26829) so explorer now displays thumbnails for e.g. canon raw format CR2, which TC doesn't do, apparently.

TC uses OLE2 to get thumbnails from Windows. I don't see any reason why this should work in Explorer but not in TC. Maybe the codecs are 64-bit only (are you using 64-bit Windows 7)?

Nah, I'm not that bad :)

I installed both codec packs.

Unfortunately I cannot check it in 32bit explorer as in W7 the infamous regression took place ;) I.e. explorer.exe doesn't allow to use /separate switch so idk how to start x86 explorer.exe now...

Hmm, no idea - you will have to wait for the 64-bit version then, or check whether you can use Irfanview (via IViewAdditionalTypes) to get the raw images.

You can check it with the file open dialog, opened by an 32bit application.
