TC/7zip plugin corrupted one of my archives

Post by *Lope »

The plugin and TC are FANTASTIC!

just a little improvement can be made though.
it corrupted one of my archives now and the archive was basically damaged beyond any usefulness.
luckily I had a backup somewhere else.
there should be an option that a backup of an archive will be created in %TEMP% if manipulating a file that is under 10MB.

it won't cause any loss of performance and then it can be automatically deleted afterwards if no errors occur.

Unfortunately I don't have any influcence on the plugins. The internal ZIP packer always tests the archive before deleting any previous archive, so you should be on the safe side. Btw, the 7zip plugin uses code from the 7zip author, so it shouldn't cause any damaged archives (I haven't heared of anyone with the problem yet). Do you know what went wrong?

Ok, thanks, good to know.
Unfortunately its a freak bug.
Because after it happens I restore a backup of my 7z file, and try the operation again and it works!
It has happened a few times unfortunately.
So now whenever I add/remove stuff from 7z files with the plugin I first backup the 7z file. Its a bit of a mission... Perhaps I should use another format.
I just like 7z because of its high compression and integration with TC :)
