I have everything working perfectly.
I do a long press on the first line (with home and update buttons) and paste files.
TC 7.56a, Win 7 x64
TC for Android 1.0 rc1, HTC Desire | rooted stock Gingerbread (3.14.405.1) | S-OFF

Indeed you need to open the context menu on the topmost item. Android doesn't seem to support tap&hold contect menus on the list control background.
