TC still can't preserve timestamps regardless of Android version. Not even when copying to FTP servers. That's definitely not Android's fault.

Are you sure it is not an Android fault? BTW TC preserves timestamps when you copying files within Android, but there is no way to tell Android to set specific timestamp for a file so all newly created files get current timestamps. Or do you know a way?

of files on Android due to missing permissions of the user to set them. Only the root user is allowed to set/copy the timestamp.

I just tried Image and Video Date Fixer on my non-rooted Galaxy S10e and it succeeded to change mtime for pictures both on internal memory and sdcard.

Yes, it works on Android 10 and 11 with Total Commander, at least on my S10e too.

Yes, some time ago I noticed too that mobile TC is able to set timestamps, and it is great!
BTW my old good Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) runs on Android 8.

TC always sends the command to set the timestamp after copying, but due to a very old Android bug this has been ignored for many Android versions. It was fixed by Google in Android 9 or 10.

Can this work with preserving seconds timestamps of folders within android to PC (could be directly to windows 10 or to ubuntu --> windows). I am trying to find ways around the annoying 2 second timestamp forward/backward of zip archives when extracting folders.

ZIP files use the old DOS timestamp, which has a resolution of 2 seconds. The SMB plugin does not currently keep folder timestamps, just file timestamps.
