Send To option in Context Menu

Who can tell me the difference between the item "Send to" and "Send to */*" in the context menu of a file.

"Send to" is showing only apps which are telling Android (via manifest file) that they support the specific file type, e.g. .jpg when you long tap on a jpg image.

"Send to */*" shows all apps which support the send to operation, even if they don't support that specific file type.
