Basic Expectations? back up the app's configuration / backup Settings

Post by *Word »

For years, TC has been the only file manager I use (on Android devices). It's very functional and it's familiar.

I've long been puzzled by the absence of what I consider basic, essential, and easily implemented features:

• Wouldn't all users like to be able to back up the app's configuration? Setting up everything on every device, and new devices is tiresome.

• Adding a new dock button defaults to "Change Directory". Is that the most commonly used function? We have bookmarks for that. Allow the user to choose a default, or at least change it to Internal Function?

Keep up the good work on this essential app, and kindly consider my suggestions. — Cheers from Toronto.

The settings are stored in plain text files wincmd.ini and (when ftp is used) wcx_ftp.ini. Their location is shown in Help - About Total Commander. Just copy them to the new PC.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

See viewtopic.php?p=369798#p369798 - it works OK except for the setting of the look of the icons - you have to restore that manually (but the buttons themselves are restored)

Sorry, I didn't notice that this was about Android. Please ask such questions in the Android forum.
2Hacker Thanks for moving the thread.

Btw, you can now go to /data/data/com.ghisler.android.TotalCommander manually, even without root. You no longer need to create a button.
