[SOLVED] How to create text file and view pdf files

Post by *ad2048 »

Hello, I can view text (.txt) files in the app but I can't create new one. Is there a way to create a text file using Total Commander app?
Also, Does TC app support viewing pdf files or could this feature be in the future?
Thank you for your efforts and time.

EDIT:[SOLVED] Thanks for @petermad for his comment https://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=402821#p402821

Press Shift+F4

You have to install a plugin for that (a Lister plugin) you can find Lister plugins here: http://totalcmd.net/directory/lister.html

EDIT - sorry - wrong info for the Android version

petermad TC Android ?
Oops - wrong subforum

In Android you can long-tap on the up-dir arrow (the gray bend arrow) - then a context menu with the possibility to create a new text file will pop up.

If you tap on the file name (not on the icon) of a pdf file you should be presented with at list of apps on your phone that can show it.

Thank your for your attention gentlemen. "petermad" I understand you thought I was talking about TC Desktop Software, take it easy, it happens.
In Android you can long-tab on the up-dir arrow (the gray bend arrow) - then a context menu with the possibility to create a new text file will pop up.
You are correct, when I long press it I see a menu to create text file
If you tab on the file name (not on the icon) of a pdf file you should be presented with at list of apps on your phone that can show it.
Yes, but as you know you can't view the pdf itself inside TC. I just wanted to centralize most of things or tasks as possible as I can in one app instead of installing an app for each task.
I know Android phones came with pre-installed apps to view PDF files (like Drive PDF Viewer from Google and Mi PDF Viewer from Xiaomi), but it would be nice if TC implement this feature.
I have edit my main post/topic and added screenshots on how to create text file using TC android app.
Thank you very much

I recommend that you use the included PDF viewer made by Google (part of Google Drive app), because it is kept up to date with security updates. PDF is one of the more dangerous formats, because it can contain scripting.

You can actually also long-tap on any folder name if present - here is also an option to create a new text file in the list (but not the option co create UTF-8 file)

On Android you should use TAP rather than "tab". ;-P

Thank you again for all your comments, And I have made "Drive PDF Viewer" my primary viewer although I don't update Google Drive because I don't use it on my phone, but I will remember to update it for latest improvements and security.
