Post by *kamerunka »

windows 10
search does not work in system folders if you are not administrator

how to reproduce:
go to \program files
pres alt+f7
search for *.exe

no results

p.s.
you can browse the folder w/o problems

I have just tried it and it works just fine, TC finds plenty of files in "\Program files" also on Windows 10. However, it will NOT search in the protected "WindowsApps" subfolder. To search there, you must enter the folder. TC will then ask for higher user rights. Then you can search there, also from "\Program files".

hm, it doesn't work for me, even if I look for *
the user must NOT be administrator,
while I was administrator, it was OK, it was only requesting elevation to make changes

now it requests elevation, to make changes, I can browse there, but search doesn't work

Which version of Total Commander? You need TC 8.52 or newer for Windows 10.

I do not have the problem so I cannot say what it is, and cannot fix it either, sorry. Sounds like a rights problem to me.

Hmm, odd, the search window should at least show the number of search results when resized to minimum height...
