TC 8.52a + Cloud 1.07: 'by content' comparison not performed

Post by *Csimbi »

TC does not compare 'by content' on cloud.

Install the Cloud plugin 1.07.
Add a cloud service (I used Google drive here).
Copy a few files to cloud.
Change a file locally but make sure the file size remains the same - e.g. delete a character from the beginning and add one at the end.
Now, select Commands -> Synchronize dirs
Make sure that 'by content' and 'ingore date' and both checked and then hit the compare button.

Observe that the files are not checked by content (only a question mark is visible).

Thanks for fixing!

I agree, that option 'by content' should be disabled for cloud or ftp compare.

Compare by content is senseless for remote files, because they have to be downloaded completely for this purpose and will be deleted after this.
If you decide to download the file due to detected differences, you have to download it again or to upload it.
In both cases the first download was superfluous.

If you guess the files are binary different, just up- or download all of them.
It is always faster and generates less traffic than a compare by content!

Hint:
Nevertheless you can force a compare for a single pair by doubleclick on the result line, if you are unsure about the direction.
