Column "Size" does not justify correctly on big fi

Post by *scorpio_cz »

Hello,

The columns "Size", "Date", "Extension", "Attributes" are justified left.

When in "Options" / "Tabstops" I use :

Size display : bytes
Header / footer : kbytes

Then "Size" column ( for files of size >10MB ) the left justification is off the formatting, as the "left" column is locked on cca 1MB (when I use digit grouping), and bigger numbers fall left to the "Ext" column, even if there is enough space on the right.

I would like to have this justification configurable on what "digit" it shall justify.

Thanks for consideration.

This is by design. The user has to adjust the columns so everything can be seen. Cutting off part of the number as the Explorer does is not helpful at all. For example, if it shows just 100... it's impossible to know whether the file has 1000, 10000 or 1000000000 bytes.

Hello,

thanks, I understand that this is design behavior.
I do not want to change it, I just would like to have some additional tuning.

So, you think it does not make sense to add the option to set the number of digits on which the "size" column left justification is locked to ?

Thanks.

The left justification digts doesn't matter - just move the LEFT separator to make the size column larger. The RIGHT separator only controls the distance between the size and the date column.

Regardless of how big I do "Size" column, the digits overflow left to the "Ext" column, and even leave blank in the "Size" column.

Not sure if I can make it in letter graphics, but it's like :

Code: Select all

| Ext | Size | Date |
+-----------------+---------------------+-------+
|mkv 99'888'777'666 | 05/11 |
|dat | 1'522 | 06/11 |
So for the example "mkv" file the column "Size" overflows to "Ext" column.
This happens despite of the plenty of space in the "size" column itself.
May be please simply give option to choose to justify the column "Size" to the right instead of left ?

Just make the extension column wider as Ghisler said (move the left separator of the size column).
