HTTPS download via drag&drop fails

Post by *sEXEcutor »

I just found out a file can be downloaded via drag&drop into TC

HTTP download works fine, both via drag&drop and the Ctrl+N window.

HTTPS download is inconsistent. (I've already downloaded the OpenSSL libraries and put them into the 64 subdirectory.)

Download via the Ctrl+N window works as expected, but if I drag same link into TC, connection fails with timeout.

Here is the test link https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

How exactly do you do that? When I drag that URL from Firefox or Chrome to TC, it creates a file *.url with the link inside. If I drag it from Internet Explorer, then nothing happens (forbidden drop).

I have also tried to drop the link on the edit box of the Ctrl+N dialog, but I get a "forbidden drop" there too for all 3 browsers. Looks like normal edit controls cannot accept URLs...

Sorry, I forgot to add - drag&drop holding Shift.
And it works for me in Firefox.

Here is a test HTTP link http://www.polyu.edu.hk/iaee/files/pdf-sample.pdf

Correction: either paste a link into the Ctrl+n window, or drag&drop it into TC holding Shift.

No, gives me "forbidden drop" also with Shift (Firefox, Windows 7).

Ok, another correction: either paste a link into the Ctrl+n window, or drag&drop it into the file list (not any modal window) in TC holding Shift.

I think, there is some misunderstanding. It can't be that it works just for me.

Pasting your link
https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf
or
http://www.polyu.edu.hk/iaee/files/pdf-sample.pdf
into Ctrl+N works fine here, the pdf downloads fine too!

I do use the openssl dlls from libcurl for the https download.
