TC help wrote:A & sign causes the letter behind it to be underlined
Bad news: I have not noticed any underlining. Good news: pressing the letter behind "&" does execute the corresponding command.
Windows 7x64. TC 9.20b6 both 32 & 64 bit. Clean ini.
Please confirm

Do you see the underlined characters when you open the directory hotlist with the keyboard via Ctrl+D?

What about Windows setting for access keys https://www.groovypost.com/howto/make-windows-underline-menu-shortcut-keys/

That was more or less what I was getting at. But, it's independent of this system option if a menu is opened via the keyboard, because then the underlined characters are shown either way.

Yes, I do. I didn't know about it before. Thank you.

There is no such option in Windows 7. Thank you, too

OK, to summarize: You see the underlined characters when you open the menu via keyboard (Ctrl+D) but you don't see them when you open the menu with the mouse. Correct? If so, it's the option mentioned by ts4242, which definitely exists in Windows 7. Even XP has this option (and Win2k, too, IIRC), but it's in a different location there (no wonder, we are talking about MS software...).

I have finally found this checkbox: Ease of Access Center \ Make the keyboard easier to use \ Underline keyboard shortcuts and access keys

I don't see underscores even with this option enabled (it is one of strange Windows options that I always enable and don't understand who on the Earth may want to disable it) when I press hotlist button with mouse, but I do see them when I press Ctrl+D. I see underscores in TC main menu always, and I see underscores in Notepad menu w/o any keyboard presses.
W/o mentioned option the behavior in TC is the same, but Notepad shows underscores only when I open menu with keyboard.
So it seems that TC hotlist menu ignores this setting... And it seems that this behaviour is quite old, I've checked with 9.22rc2 32/64 bit and 9.0 32/64 bit in Windows 7x64 Enterprise.

This is a Windows misfeature: The underlines are only shown when opening menus with the keyboard. Ctrl+D works here, but clicking on the directory hotlist button doesn't display the underlines.

Well, you're right when talking about the default setting. But when you enable mentioned system option, the underlines are always shown - or they should be at least.

ghisler(Author),
Please check e.g. in Notepad, it does underline shortcuts in context menu when you press right mouse button... And also try opening file context menu in TC by clicking/holding RMB, shortcut keys are underlined...

When I enable the option "Underline hotkeys, if available" in Windows 10, then the entries in the TC menus are all underlined too, also in the Ctrl+D menu when invoking it with the mouse. I tested this with both the 32-bit and 64-bit version on Windows 10.

Well, it is strange but regardless of mentioned option under Windows 10 I always have shortcuts underlined in hotlist menu (while main menu items change underlining w/o restarting TC when I switch option). But it is not so under Windows 7.

Maybe it's a bug in the graphics drivers? IIRC I read something about this relation somewhere.
