Post by *gesha »

Hello guys. Very short question about TC-internationalization.

Why my TC show me very ugly file names?

In same time Explorer shows in ok.

May be it is possible to fix it somehow?

Platform:
- Win2000,
- Default region- German
- local region German

When I switch my NT into russial-locale everithing fine of course. But ....
...I hope you understand me.

10x.

Hi,
It is because TC doesn't yet support Unicode. Please see http://www.bearfacts2.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89 .

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

The world isn't perfect, actually nothing is perfect; Selected few strive for perfection, besides, perfection as a state isn't attainable nor does it exist, it's a way of life and a costly one at that.

You need to set the system-default language for non-unicode programs in control panel - regional settings to your language, otherwise Total Commander cannot display the file names! The reason is that Total Commander uses ANSI (1 byte) text for file names, while NT uses Unicode (2 byte text), and the conversion between the two is determined by the language settings.
The display language of NT/Win2k will NOT change when you make these changes, just the conversion.
