FTP connections

Post by *karla »

I seem to have "lost" all my saved ftp connections and when I try to save a new connection it too disappears. Currently, the connections list is empty and remains that way even when I add new connections.

Any tips on how wcmd handles saved connections and/or how to locate the saved connections info?

Thanks

Yeah..

Like BD mentioned, I have W..NT, and it was in there ! (C:\W..NT\) :o

But if you add a FTP and it does not appear again it maybe a RIGHTS thing, but you got no error window ?

Or Did your IT department recently reinstall your C drive and not the D where your own software is on (thats the case here ! :? )

Or it's a real TC bug.... noooo.

Please use inireloc from our addons page to define a different location for the ini files. Apparently you don't have write rights to the Winnt directory.

Hi guys

Thanks for all the help, but it's still not working!

Here's what i've tried:

1. did search for wcx_ftp.ini - found it to be missing (so is the wincmd.ini)

2. ran inireloc.exe but this didn't help because the files are missing!

3. unistalled v4.54 and reinstalled latest v5.51 - got error message: "Could not create ini file dir! The ini file location will not be saved."

Since latest installation: try to add ftp connection and still nothing happens - no error window either!

What now?

Try reinstalling (again) this time however when installing and are prompted about ini file directory (or settings) set it to Program directory (i.e. in the dir you're installing TC); this should solve the security problem.

Cheers.

Hm, bad people kill them... %) Is it your office machine, BTW?

It looks like Christian absolutely right, you don't have write rights to %SYSTEMROOT%. So use inireloc to change their default location to your home directory, for example.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... But actually what for you did all this "dances" with installation?

k> What now?

Try not to fall into total depression %).
Relocate configuration files and everything would be OK.
BTW, regular backup of wincmd.ini, wcx_ftp.ini etc. is a good idea.[/face]
