Some questions.....

Post by *TotalNewbie »

Apollogies in advange if the questions have be answered before.
But I just cant find them :)

----
A] Movies/pictures
An autoscale function that scales to the size of the quick view window would be very nice.

----
B] Popup quick view
Quick view is very usefull. Thats a fact.
But hows this for an improvement...?
shift+ctrl+mouse on a file opens the quickview until you release the mouse.
Say you are using 2 panes with as you do normally.
Click on the file in the left pane and the right pane instantly becomes teh quick view pane.
when you release the mouse it because a normal filer window again.

----
C] AVI
None of my avis play in quick view.
External viewer does work but thats not really quick view/TC anymore.
Then I can just as well load the file in Mediaplayer

----
D] Quick View assosiations
None of the internal viewer plugins seems to handle everything.
XnView is the best for me. It shows most files but not all.
Irfan view is less good but shows some of the missing files.
This leads me to the following idea.
What if TC allows for several internal viewers.
Link a filetype to a certain viewer.

-----
E] Quick View Plus (jasc)
Very good program that displays almost everything.
But bloatware that slows things down a lot.
So not really TC style IMO.
But its great for viewing pdf/excel etc
is there a way to link it as *internal* viewer?

------
F] Button bars
Everyone has his/hers on style/wishes/taste on this.
TC allows to save several buttons bars.
So is there some site that hosts button bars for downloading?
I've seen one but all sets I seen there where missing some important buttons.

Make Preview window active. Press the F key.

Also, do not forget to install Irfanview and it's plugins on your system, it will integrate with lister to display images and play movies and sound. 8)

Irfanview is excellent, by far the best imageviewer (and so much more) out there! FREE, even :)

Yes but you will have to do this step every single time. Configuring though your TC to support a specific file type for quick viewing is a one time job and then you enjoy the advantages!

That’s already possible! Configuration -> Edit/View tab -> Associations button

Use associations. It seams to me that you don’t use the advantages of the following keyboard shortcuts: Shift+F3, F3, Alt+F3. Play with them a little and check TC’s help file and you’ll be amazed! ;)

Thanks for the replies!

Looks like I'm missing the important stuff here :)

pdavit:
I use F3 etc but I was meaning the internal viewer.
not the seperate popup window/lister.

Going to test the Associations button

Irfanview:
All raving comments on this one.
I must be overlooking a lot on this one because it performs far far worse then XnView for me.
I think I have installed all plugins.....

Anyways thanks for the replies

TC allows as many button bars as you need (no limitation) !
So is there some site that hosts button bars for downloading?
download button bars :?: :?:
only you can decide which buttons you need, and what they do: internal commands, shortcuts to programs or documents ...

I exclusively use TC to do all tasks - my desktop is nearly empty, just need a shortcut to TC :D if I need to close it (after installing plugins).
My main button bar has some basic commands (quit, search files, compare directories, synchronize, Word, Excel...) and buttons to several button bars : current tasks/files, net-related (IE, outlook, agent), programming, misc tools, mutimedia tools...)

All I need is to have significant icons !

This has been discussed in the old forum, IIRC you can make use of it by using either IEview, Word file viewer or MS Office file viewer (don't know which exactly, haven't tried them). You can get them from Maxwish's site, www.maxwish.tk , section .WLX Plugins.

Irfanview:

Not everybody is raving about it. I am still using ACDSee 32 2.42 which seems to perform best in terms of performance and has all the features I need, except for JP2, JPC and MNG support. Therefore I recently tried IrfanView, but it doesn't even have an acceptable Browser, so I rather installed XnView, which performs better IMO, has an acceptable browser (though it cannot be compared to ACDSee's) but it just doesn't start up in the current dir even though I set it in options, doesn't open images fullscreen, though I specified it, too, and the image cannot be moved with the mouse in fullscreen.

Anyways, you might also want to to try UniView, http://www.gymrk.sk/andrek/uniview/ .
