FTP connect without automatic LIST?

Post by *Jaws »

Hi,

I am using Total Commander at work and was wondering if it is possible to connect to a FTP server without it performing an automatic LIST command. I frequently have to upload some files to a FTP server which houses many, many files so the LIST takes very long but is not necessary.
Is there a way to prevent it from performing a LIST command after connecting?

No, unfortunately not. LIST is always performed because when uploading there is no overwrite check by the server, so TC has to get the file list and check for the same file by itself.

Oh, I see.. that is a good reason.
It's not that much of a problem anyway, I still can cancel the LIST whenever I want.

Thanks for the info!

What you could try is the following:
- login to a directory one level up or one level below the one with the many files.
- press F5 to upload
- modify the target path, e.g from *.* to bigsubdir/*.*

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure if this will work on our system (OS/390), but I'll try on monday.

Schönes Wochenende!
