[Suggestion] Save to RTF or HTML in Compare by contents

Post by *fabiochelly »

Hi,

Is it possible to add a function save to RTF or save to HTML in the compare by content function?

It would be very useful because I am often asked to show the changes I made in a text file.

I could add this if there is any interest. However, I didn't find a good way to save it yet. What do you have in mind? HTML tables?

The best would be a HTML files with a 2 columns table and one row for each text line and of course which would keep the colors used to display changes.

I'd like a version where only one file is displayed. Not one HTML with a table, left file1, right file2 but one HTML per file. In red the parts which are not in the other file and in blue the passages of the other file.

Maybe in a configurable way, with a html template and parameters. In the template one could have placeholders for the parameters (file1, file2 etc).

Yes, I agree. It would be better if it's not too difficult to implement

If the target is HTML it should be valid HTML ! :-)

I support the idea of coloring the files according to user settings. The background should probably also be colored.

I were talking about the colors which shows the changes between the files

There is a problem: Lines can have any length in Compare by Contents, but HTML files don't have any horzontal scrollbars for windows. Of course I could make the table as wide as necessary, but this wouldn't be useful, right?
