Help : About to give up on TC !

Post by *dude123 »

Hi there

I have quite a serious problem with TC (551, latest version). Whenever I create / rename or delete a directory, TC takes VERY long (up to 10 seconds) to return control to me.

This happens even if the directory is empty (in the delete case). Funny thing is, on my C: drive (system partition) it's fast, as usual. On the D: drive it's slow (have about 19 Gig free). I have tried different tools, eg Windows explorer, they work fine on both partitions.

I am running Windows 2000. I have tried uninstalling / re-installing TC, but it doesn't help.

Any help / advice appreciated.

Thanks

Running windows XP SP1 i've got the same problem at work, on one of our disk shares it takes about 10 seconds to create/rename/delete a directory, while on others there is no problem like this. I will ask admins tomorrow and will get back to you with an answer, I hope  .
No problem at all when I use explorer.exe for similar operations.

Usually when deleting something takes a long time, it's because your recycle bin is pretty full. What happens if you use Shift-F8 (delete without recylce bin) to delete the directory.

You can also try to empty you recycle bin, or reduce it's size

I don't know though why creating the directory should take that long....
