Post by *semmel »

Actually, ".r01"... So "Enter" doesn't work? %)[/face]

Thanks for the answers.
No, the file extension is in fact .001
If I rename 001 to RAR, then WinRAR will ask for R01 next, and I have to tell it that the next file is 002 - then it will take the rest of the files.

What I want to achieve is to use ALT-F9 to unpack the archive, but that does not work since Total Commander does not recognize the format.
Sorry, I should have mentioned that before

Anyway, does the WinRAR module support multiple file archives (rar, r01, r02 etc.) ? Never tried it yet ;-)

It does, but only if you unpack one part after the other.

You could use the multi rename tool to rename the file extensions. This should work fine until you have more than 101 archive parts:

Is there a way to use an "ASCII counter"?

File.r98
File.r99
File.r99
File.s00

and so on.

(however newer rar versions don't seem to use this naming scheme anymore)

You can set 'a' (or 'r') as startvalue for the counter, then it counts "ASCII-like", but I found no way to combine an ASCII and decimal counter

cool, I didn't know that! You are right the problem is that a counter is a global counter for one multi rename action...

and besides: I don't want to have to spend time re-configuring my rename tool all the time...

Not realy.... The options you set in the GUI for the counter are only used for "[C]". But you can use something like this "[Cr][C98:2]" as Extension. Anyway, the result isn't what we need:
file.r98
file.s99
file.t100
