SCP functionality?

Post by *graeme »

Hi Christian

I've been using WinSCP for a little while now and it's interface is similar to totalcmd, but just different enough to be annoying sometimes. :D

Is there any chance you will be including basic integrated SCP functionality in totalcmd sometime in the future?

Christian cannot currently do that because of the Swiss cryptography export laws so we rely upon someone to make it instead.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Is this your own (or your company's) server? If yes, ask them to enable SSH2. This way you can use SFTP (secure FTP), the successor of SCP. The SFTP plugin can be found on our addons page.

These are all FreeBSD & Linux servers at work. I'll use the SFTP plugin as suggested. I think all the servers are already SSH2-enabled. If not I'll just make the necessary changes.

Thanks guys!

Yes, FreeBSD and Linux both support SSH2, but you may need to create a new SSH2 private key to use SFTP, using a tool called ssh_****** (if I remember correctly).
