Ctrl-A selects files+dirs, Ctrl-S selects files only

Post by *sergeycentral »

There is an option in Total Commander to "select files only" or "also select directories"

would it be possible to do "select files only" when you press Ctrl-S,
having the "also select directories" option enabled?

Surge.

I've also asked for it :-)
And I still think it's very useful in some situations... to have such an option.

Christian maybe it would be possible to add it in TC6.0... at least in the form of internal command as Valentino sugessted in the last post there?

You can press Home then Shift+End to select really everything even if the selection of dirs is turned off.

... or you can select files with grey * (or Ctrl-Grey+), and then subsequently select the appropriate directories by right-clicking on them (or by dragging the cursor up-/downwards while keeping the right mouse button pressed) ...

another way is to use a user-defined selection for "files only", "directories only" and "select all".

ghisler(Author): if you mark files, you always know how many files you have marked, it does not work the same way with dir`s, why is that?
And is there a workaround?

If you want to know how many folder you have selected you can use the CTRL+L

It will give you the occupied space by the selected object & directories. However it also count the subdir...

I also missed this information.

"However it also count the subdir.."

That is the problem. I dont want the subdirs counted, if i would, i use alt+enter.

I dont really understand why this is missing, if it is.. Even explorer counts the marked dirs.

Thanks anyway Coco.
