Slow synchronise directories over network

Post by *dougjenkins »

I recently upgraded my desktop computer, and find that the synchronise directories function is now painfully slow when run from the new desktop machine. When run from the other machine, a 500 MHz celeron notebook, the speed is the same as before.

The new machine has Windows XP, as did the old desktop. The notebook has Windows 98. Both are running TC 5.51

Are there any settings I can change to speed things up?

It may be caused by a virus scanner, or it's a multi-homing problem (TCP/IP bound to multiple adapters). The multi-homing problem can happen when using ADSL and the network is bound to the network card too. It must only be bound to the virtual ADSL adapter.

I think it may well be the multi-homing problem. I'll investigate that.

Many thanks for your help.
