wish - Icons in button bar

From what i've seen, if I specify a button bar icon size different from the standard 32 pixels, the "ouput" icon is an interpolation of the 32x32 original icon. For example if I set icon size to 48, instead of displaying the 48x48 icon version (which is available in most of recent icons) i get an "ugly" icon obtained zooming the 32x32 icon.

my wish is : if an icon contains different sizes (from 16x16 up to 128x128) why not trying to use the closer to the tollbar icon size setting ?
