There are a lot of reasons for a blank file list.
The top 2 solutions are:
- use passive mode (at FTP connection details)
- disable "Net - FTP Show hidden files"

Could you post a log file of when this happens? You can create it via Configuration - Options - FTP. Make sure to modify sensitive information like server names, but please don't delete any lines.

When I translate the last message from your log, it says something about a write error in your TEMP directory. This is where TC stores the file listings, and that easily explains why you don't see any files in the FTP connection.

Solution: Check whether or not you can create files in your %TEMP% directory, also check its permissions (right-click > Properties > tab Security).

I recommend that you create a new folder TEMP in the root of c:

Then go to Control panel - System - Advanced - Environment variables.

Here change TEMP and TMP to point to c:\temp

I'm sorry to resurrect 4 years old topic, but it is an issue for me. I connect to server successfully, but no file listing is displayed. Here is connection log.
Note that, it doesn't seem to be the same issue OP had.
Some details: it is FTPS connection (even though 21 port for unsecured is used). The same issue is observed on Far. However, WinSCP (FTPS connection configured) works! It is not my local system issue, several collogues also observe it.
If it is confirmed to be client issue (maybe some non-canonical protocol handling), I will be happy to wait for fix (I used to work 9.21, but updated to latest to confirm). If it appears to be server-side failure (which is most likely, they have changed server software recently, introduced FTPS), I'll be happy to chop several head in IT-Department as well (all they done so far is 'WinSCP works, we don't care').

You probably have this problem:
https://www.ghisler.com/whatsnew.htm#ftps

Either disable the requirement for SSL session re-use on the server, or get the OpenSSL DLLs as described above.
