Need an easier way to fix multirename error

Post by *jackhab »

I use multirename tool to rename jpg photos based on EXIF info. I often encounter renaming errors in case the EXIF is missing from file and this, of course, is not a problem of the multirename tool.

Now I have a file list in the multirename window, for some of them the tool displays error but in order to run the tool again only with the valid files I need to manually write down invalid file names and deselect them which is very inconvenient if I have list of 500 jpgs with numeric names and 10 of them are invalid.

Is there a way to make multirename tool deselect invalid files automatically?
If no, how can I suggest such a feature to the developer?

Thanks.

How about selecting only files with "EXIF info" and only then start MRT?

Or use a dedicated renaming tool like den4b ReNamer.

To suggest such features for TC, post in "TC suggestions (English)" sub forum or let a Moderator move this topic to there.

First do a search for files where the EXIF information you want to use is different (!=) from the empty string (don't write anything in the Value field). Feed that search to listbox and then use the Rename tool.
