Plugin Viewer for ".msg" Files
Hello,
I would like to know if, apart Ulister, is there a Viewer plugin for ".msg" files.
I tried wlx_EMLView_1.2.4 but it works only for ".eml" files.
I tried also "wlx_eml_0_6" (That should worth both for "eml" and "msg" files) but I receive the follwing error from TC:
"crash in plugin wlx_eml.wlx:list load: external exception EEDFADE".
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Fabrizio

Re: Plugin Viewer for ".msg" Files
Well, msg files are not really different from eml files. The settings of plugins can be changed, so that they also work for other file extensions. Although that's not possible for all plugins. Try adding the msg extension in wincmd.ini for the EMLView plugin. TC Plugins Manager may make this change easier.

Re: Plugin Viewer for ".msg" Files
Thanks for the suggestion.
I already tried to do this by using TC Plugins Manager, where I added the extension "MSG" in the column "Registered For".
I checked now also in wincmd.ini and now I can see the the additional extension "MSG":
5=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Addons\Plugin\Lister\EML View\EMLView.wlx
5_detect=EXT="EML" | EXT="MSG"
Unfortunately the plugin seems doesn't be able to "capture" the msg files

Does EMLView work when you rename the msg file to have .eml extension? If yes, I can ask the author to support .msg too - I'm regularly in contact with him.

Re: Plugin Viewer for ".msg" Files
I tried to change extension from ".msg" to ".eml" but it seems that it doesn't work correctly. The text is not readable (See example).

However if you have occasion to talk to the author, it would be really useful to know if you can adapt the plugin: I have a personal license of TC that I use continuously even at work. I would like to try to make other employees of the company use TC in particular for the management of Outlook emails: currently all employees have huge and not shared mail files in Microsoft Outlook; I created a simple macro to rename the files with arrival date and time (See example below) and so I can save the files on the file system of the company network and read them in TC with an email viewer.

The plugin writer "progman13", who has already written many plugins for TC, is willing to change his EMLView plugin to also support msg files. However, he needs some sample msg files from you for testing. Could you please send him such files? You can find his e-mail address in the readme file of the EMLView plugin. Thanks!

Re: Plugin Viewer for ".msg" Files
Ok, many thanks. I will do it!
Re: Plugin Viewer for ".msg" Files
which is the best plugin viewer for eml/msg files , is it uLister ?
Re: Plugin Viewer for ".msg" Files
In my opinion, YES
Re: Plugin Viewer for ".msg" Files
No, for eml files definitely not.
ULister displays eml files by default as archives and you have to go inside to see more.
The actual EMLView 1.2.6.1 Beta displays them just fine
and also allows to switch to Html or webbrowser view.
