SAML support for WebDAV - Windows and Android

Post by ersmith »

My campus has just implemented SAML for WebDAV connections, so I get 401 errors when trying to connect.

I don't see a way, but does Total Commander for Windows and for Android have a way of using SAML authentication?

You can try to sign in with Internet Explorer - Total Commander uses the IE API functions Internet* etc. to connect. If SAML works with cookies after login, it may work this way.

Thank you! Logging in with IE works on the PC. Is there a way to do the same on Android? I don't see a RemoteIE, but tried Edge. That didn't work.

No, on Android, each app has its own separate connections. The plugin uses the org.apache.http.* functions for connections.
It would be possible to inject cookies in that, but how to get them?

Is there any chance that TC will support SAML in the future? It seems to be the way that several IT shops are going to support single-login.

I also found that on Win10 boxes the use of IE often doesn't work -- and some have Edge instead of IE.

1. Internet Explorer is always installed, even if you use Edge.
2. It may be disabled via group policies, then you cannot use it for login.
3. I know nothing about SAML, and I guess that it is extremely complex. I also don't have access to any servers which support it, and it's probably not easy to setup your own. Therefore the chances are very small that I will ever be able to support it.
4. The Windows WebDAV plugin is open source, so if a big corporation needs it, they can add it themselves and don't even need to publish their modifications.
