HTML directly in text only

Post by *Hurdet »

When I use F3 view on a HTML file i see it in HTML text (strips tag) mode.
Do it is possible to show directly in text only?

I was going to suggest the new Lister's "Define view method by type..." feature as a solution, but at least on 32-bit Windows 7 it doesn't work for me to define the text view as default one for *.htm, *.html, so I created a bug report: https://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=72735
If you use 64-bit Windows and 64-bit Total Commander, you can try it there, if it won't work there either you can add a confirmation about it in mentioned bug report thread.

Just disable both HTML options in Listers Configure -> Multimedia

Or press Shift+Alt+F3

Or assign this command to a keybord shortcut or use it in a button:

Code: Select all

[em_list1]
cmd=%COMMANDER_EXE% /i="%COMMANDER_INI%" /S=L:T1
param=%Z%P%N
menu=Lister - Text only
button=%COMMANDER_EXE%,24

That works without problems here with the x86 and x64 TC.
You have to define the view by type and deselect the option "Show html as text with links"
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.69
QAP 11.6.3.2 x64

I seems to be enough to just disable "Show html as text with links" - you don't need to "Define view method by file type".

That depends on other plugins you may have installed.
HtmlView and ULister in my case.
I don't use viewing html as text only, I did it just to prove DrSharks post. :)

This worked for me (I want to see the HTML in full with all the text, as one would see it in a plain-vanilla HTML editor). Thanks for the tip! It is not at all obvious, IMHO. :)
