Define a compare tool doesn't require to select file names it uses the same logic as the internal compare.
That's exactly what I said.
However the point is I think
jackhab does not want to use the logic of the internal compare tool exactly. When no files are selected, the internal compare tool takes the name under cursor in the active panel and compares it to the same name in the inactive panel.
jackhab wants to compare it to the focused file in the inactive panel which might have a different name.
