Android wifi plugin - need help

Post by *Quaresma »

Hi guys, I have an issue on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 that started a month ago. I cannot link it to any update or setting, but my phone seems to reject all incoming connections on WLAN. The effect is that I cannot transfer files using local connection via Airmore, Airdroid, or Total Commander via the Wifi plugin (connection refused). I do use Blokada, which is a pseudo VPN that acts as a 'hosts' file replacement and directs all ad-related traffic to localhost.

I have another Xiaomi phone also with Blokada, and Airmore works perfectly even with it turned on. Even so, I tried removing Blokada, but the issue persists on the phone. Do you have an idea what exact setting or issue could be causing this? It's on Android 10, MIUI 12. Thanks

If you use a VPN, you may have multiple IP addresses. The WiFi plugin should be able to show them all. If not, you can try to find out the real IP address via Total Commander button with internal command nr 133 (system information) in the lower toolbar, and then enter that IP address instead of the one shown by the WiFi plugin.

Thanks for your reply. I think this is not so much an issue with Total Commander, but the connectivity of my phone, or why it might have started to refuse internal WLAN connections. As I've said, I cannot communicate on WLAN through TC, or Airdroid or similar apps... I can access other WLAN computers using the LAN plugin, but my phone refuses to let others connect to it in instances when it should be acting as a server.

Any suggestions how to check detailed android network settings to find out what might be causing this? I've checked with a friend who has the same phone with the identical software versions and his phone works well with TC and Airmore etc.

Stock Android does not have a built-in firewall, so it must be either something vendor-specific, or caused by Blokada.
Could you try without Blokada just to check whether it is the reason or not?

Yeah, I did mention that I've tried removing Blokada and it did not work. Also, tried it on a similar phone with Blokada, and it did work with it active.

So I think it would help me now if I could find an app or something to see the network settings on the phone in great detail, to discover why it's blocking inbound WLAN connections. I have a lot of apps and stuff configured to my needs, so a factory reset is a last resort. Actually, I'll rather live without this functionality than suffer through a factory reset xD

Have you tried a Total Commander button with internal command nr 133 (system information) in the lower toolbar as I suggested above?
It should show you all your IP addresses.

I am looking hard, but I can't seem to find that button or where I would enter the command. Could you explain, provide a screenshot maybe? Tnx

First, click on the plus button in the lower toolbar. If you use two bars, you need to click on the rightmost button first to show the second bar, then on the plus button.

Then change the function type to "Internal command".
And finally click on >> and pick command nr 133.

IPv4=192.168.5.51 (wlan0),203.0.113.69 (tun0)
IPv6=2001:db8:: (tun0)

This is the network-related info that I get through that command. Can you see anything unusual there? The tunnel is Blokada, I suppose.
Btw, something new happened: TC's wifi plugin now works, with Blokada on, just as everything were normal. But when I try Airdroid or Airmore, they still cannot see the phone. I've tried it on other computers on the same network and on other phones, and this is the only one with the issue.

Which IP address does the wifi plugin now show to the user in the connect URL (with the QR code),
192.168.5.51
or
203.0.113.69
?

Hi again and thanks for helping!
I just went to try it again so that I can tell you which URL is shown, but now I'm back to "connection refused"!
The network data is the same as before and the URL in the QR code is the first one, 192...

Could you try to connect to the second one? Just change the URL manually in the web browser, and make sure you don't try https.

203.0.113.69
203.0.113.69:8082
203.0.113.69:8082/5824

Just tried them all, but to no avail :/

Maybe you can create exemptions in Blokada for the WiFi plugin, or for local IP addresses? Or temporarily turn off Blokada?

I've tried it without Blokada and with it on. On the other phone it works all the time, and it's also a Xiaomi running the same OS version
