How to solve no response for very long time if click a unconnected network drive?

Post by *colemanlee »

if click a unconnected network(maybe server is down, or drive password is error) drive in Windows Totalcommaner drive bar, it will take no response for a very long time. How to decrease the no response time?

I map a network drive in Windows 10's this computer,
1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start Windows logo Start button menu, or press the Windows logo key Windows logo Start button + E.
2. Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive.

Total Commander should show a dialog box "Connecting" after 2 seconds with no response. Then you can abort the connection.
If this doesn't work, it means that it hangs in a function which Total Commander doesn't run in a background thread.
To find out where it hangs, please use the tool "whatishang":

I also need to know which version of Total Commander you use exactly (e.g. 9.51 or 10.00), and whether you use TC 32-bit or 64-bit.

I tried with whatishang-x64 in Total Commander 9.50 x64 & Windows 10 x64, but the longtime no response issue can't appear again.
I also tried to modify the server password of shared folder or shutdown the file server, then use current network drive configuration to connect, but the longtime no response issue can't appear again.

I will trace this issue and upload the whatishang-x64 log if I meet the issue again.
