MultiRename not working in exFAT drive

Post by *masster »

Hi
I am wondering if this is a known limitation.
If not, please fix it.

What exactly is not working for you with the MultiRename tool on your exFAT drive?
How does "not working" manifest? Error message? Hanging program? MRT pretending to rename, but files are not actually renamed? MRT not acting when clicking on the "Start" button?

Can you rename the files within TC (not using MRT)? Can you rename the files using Windows Explorer? What kind of drive are we talking about? USB thumb drive, SD card, something else?

I would be surprised if the MRT and not something else is causing your problems. Anyways, without knowing anything about your problem/scenario/observations, there is little that can be suspected or suggested...

I just formatted a SDHC card as exFAT, put some files on it and used the multi-rename tool - no problems.

If you were trying this on a SDHC card, maybe the write protection tab of the card was i locked position?

There is a bug in Windows 10: When you just change the name between upper- and lowercase and nothing else, then the rename request is ignored by FAT32 and exFAT. You would have to add an extra character, and later remove it, e.g.
$[N]
and then
[N2-]

There is a bug in Windows 10
Isn't it present in all versions of Windows starting with Vista?

I haven't checked which versions are affected, but I'm 100% sure that it worked with FAT32 when I added these functions.
