I'm late!, i couln't find time to check it with samba til today!
And it sucks xD

Even with the w$ stock file explorer couldn't connect to a shared folder on a Samba server.

It may be an authentication problem, Windows CE only supports very basic authentication schemes.

I want to tell you a similar problem which occurs on my new Windows Mobile 6 pda when I'm connecting to my Home-LAN.
I have a USB-printserver in my LAN, there connected a USB-stick with some shared folders.

This server works as samba-server.
When connecting via TotalCommanders LAN-plugin I can see the server
but no shared folder or any file.

With my elder PDA with WM5 it worked fine to get access to all the shared folders and files.

I think this is no bug in TC, a problem with WM6
but is there any solution to use this samba-server by TC-LAN-plugin anyway?

Have you tried to access a share directly, by specifying the full path to it, like this:
\\server\share
?

It's probably just an enumeration error, but I don't see any reason why it should work with WM5 but not WM6...

Hello

when I try to adress teh share directly by
\\Linux-server\xyz I get the message Error53

when I enter a faulty pathname (like \\Linux_server\xyz)
I get the message Error58

I'm wondering why with MW5 it's working
with WM6 not. I had both devices, one near the other
and I tried to get a connection, WM5 was ok WM6 failed.
I readed this problem in other forums, but nowhere I found
a solution or an answer.

Maybe it's the user name which you have configured in your device (owner info)? Try to set this to a name of an account on the net.

The user name in WM5 and WM6 device is the same.
When I'm connection to a windows PC, i get the autentification window
to enter user and password, every time even if i checked the box for storing teh passwort.
When I want to connect the network-server, i get no "Anmelde" window,
I see the shared device, but under this folder no shared sub-folders.
I've tried an empty owner info, also I tried to set the owner of WM6 as user
on the storage.
Nothing would help.
May be there is no solution.

It may be related to the used authentication schemes. WM6 supports the newer NTLMv2 (Windows NT LAN manager V2) protocol, but also the older, less secure protocols, but they may be disabled in the registry. The Samba version on your device probably doesn't support NTLMv2. Perhaps you can get it to work by checking the registry values described here:

yes of course.
I have changed the registry value "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\SecurityProviders\NTLM"
first from "2" to "1" without any success.
After changing to "0" I got the login screen after connecting to
the server, and after logon all directories and files can be used.

Thanks for the details. Strangely, 2 is "not supported. This value is reserved for future use.". Apparently WM6 makes this "Future use", and Microsoft haven't updated the documentation yet. "0" seems to force NTLM v1 authentication...

Hello again

after properly connecting to the server, when I want to copy some files from server to my PDA, I get the message "Diese Funktion wird nicht unterstützt"?
I can delete files, but not copy them.
I think that's a message of TotalCommander,
but why this could be? deleting is possible, copying not?

Total Commander Pocket doesn't copy by itself, it calls the function CopyFile (or when available, CopyFileEx). Apparently CopyFile is returning an error in your case. Can you copy files TO the remote server? Can you copy files within the remote server? Can you rename files?

Yes I can copy files to the server, can rename and remove them
also copying from server to server is working,
only copy from server to device doesn't work.
