Pete,

your problem seems like a TC problem to me. It does not anticipate that the detection string can change if a new version is installed by simply copying a new dll in the plugin folder instead of re-installing it using the GUI.

Christian,

do you read this forum? If so, can you confirm this?

Kuddl,

I'll check to see what is wrong with the detection string.

Indeed the detection string does not change automatically when a new version is installed. Reason: To load the detection string, TC has to load the plugin, but the detection string is there so TC does NOT have to load the plugin all the time. Also the user may have changed the detection string himself to restrict the plugin to certain file types (I do this with the ieview plugin).

Maybe his problem is releated to the DLL not being in windows\system32 ?

Christian,

but, does this mean that "x_detect=..." in wincmd.ini must be deleted before or edited manually after installing an update for a plugin?

Are there spaces allowed between two entries (e1, e2) in this string? x_detect="e1 | e2", or x_detect="e1|e2"?
kuddl with spaces in between seems to have problems with the plugin, I, without spaces in between, have no problems with the plugin.

This msvcr71.dll resides on my W2K and XPPro in TC directory only. And the font.wlx is now working perfect on both machines after changing x_detect= manually.

Greetings
Pete

It's best to remove the plugin and then adding it again via the plugin config dialog if the detect string changes.

Yes, spaces are allowed.

Hi guys..
I played around a bit... somehow it's strange!
I removed and added the plugin in variouse ways. Via dialog and by hand.
Nothing worked. By the way: the plugin wroks just fine. it is just the appearance in the dialog [http://kuddl.com/tc/screenshot.jpg] that made me curious.
I will do some more tests @ home and let you know about it.

Mark: The x_detect... line is written by the plugin within spaces! but removing them doesn't help. I checked as well the LF and CR are the cause, but they aren't.

Font.wlx 0.05 - Font Lister plugin for Total Commander

http://users.pandora.be/liontech/wlxFont.zip

This is a lister plugin for Total Commander that allows you to
display the glyphs and some additional properties of a font
in the Lister or the QuickView window of Total Commander.

It has only been tested with Total Commander 5.51 on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It will not work with any older version of Windows.

2003-08-15 Version 0.05

* Bug fix: The raster and vector font type descriptions were switched.
* Bug fix: The keyboard short-cuts of the Lister window didn't work anymore after a glyph had been zoomed.
* Bug fix: Removed spaces from the plugin detection string and added an extra set of quotes.
* Bug fix: Memory leak in the font info.
* Bug fix: Clicking on the up/down controls caused an unnecessary refresh of the complete plugin window resulting in an annoying flickering.
* The Characters range has been renamed to ASCII and displays the first 256 characters.
* Added support for character sets.
* All characters of a character set or a Unicode range are now displayed instead of just those that the font says it supports.
* The Glyph Zoom window now pops up when you click the left mousebutton and disappears when you release it or when the mouse leaves the window.
* Added some more font information and the Code Pages that the font supports.
* Code optimizations. The plugin and the Zoom window should be a very little bit faster.
* Code cleanup.

Hello, very nice plugin. Had to add the line 2_detect="ext="TTF" | ext="FON"" to the wincmd.ini manually though, otherwise it tried to open all files.

I think it's been reported before, but the PgUp/PgDown and arrow keys don't work. I have to use the mouse to scroll the window.

Hi,

I have just installed the newest version of your plugin. It's just great and works very fine. I'm also very happy that you added support fot Type1 fonts (feature I've requested). Now this plugin is all I needed.

Thanks. Good job.

You've written in FAQ section in readme that in some cases it is good to move font.wlx before the fileinfo.wlx in the plugin list.
You also put a note there: Note: Be carefull because this involves editing the wincmd.ini file.

It's not necessary to edit the wincmd.ini file manually. You can sort plugins do it in lister plugins configuration window with Shift+Arrow keys.

BTW: I hope you make your plugin "keyboard compatible" :-)

Hmm, I didn't know that... I always thought that an "Move Up"/"Move Down" button pair was missing. TC is a little too much keyboard centric for my taste :?

The keyboard interface for the plugin: I'm still thinking about the best solution...

Hello!
I just want to say thank you for investing your time and developing this nice plugin! v0.6 is working quite well (XP). And with the Type1 support it will make other font viewing prgs. obsolete.. :D

thanks!

Just a question. What kind of settings are we going to see under the Options section in the near future? Are there any possibilities of defining colours as well?

Good work otherwise LionTech. Keep up the already excellent standards.

Well, usually I add any of the current hardcoded constants:
  • Grid Glyph Size
    Sample Glyph Size
    Zoom Glyph Size
    Sample Text
    Sorting of the Unicode ranges
I'll see what comes out of the print functionality.

And any reasonable suggestion will be taken under advisement. Remember: it's a viewer plugin not an Office suite.
