Mp3tag Lister Plugin

Post by *fnheiden »

I've just released mp3tag.wlx - a basic lister plugin to display ID3v2- and ID3v1-tags of MP3-files.

You can download it from
http://www.mp3tag.de/download/tc/wlx_mp3tag.zip

With best regards,
~ Florian

Hello

This sounds interesting. I've downloaded the plugin, and installed it (following the README file and replacing the path with my own), but then, I don't know how to view the MP3 tags.
Is it F3 / Shift+F3, or something similar ? Isn't there any file extension to specify ?

Thanks for your answers

2Geoffrey :

Probably, just like me you have Irfanview installed and configured to be used with lister.
Logically, at least in my case, if I press F3, Lister/Irfanview will play the MP3 instead of displaying anything.

to Geoffrey

Just use the key you normally use to view a file with Lister (default: F3). You don't need to specify an extension.

- Restarting TCMD after installing a plugin or changing your wincmd.ini is a good idea (like chriss said)

and

- if you have more Lister Plugins installed, don't forget to give them all an unique number. This is from my wincmd.ini:

[ListerPlugins]
0=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\fileinfo.wlx
1=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\ieview.wlx
2=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\iniview.wlx
3=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\listdoc.wlx
4=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\office.wlx
5=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\SyntaxColorizer.wlx
6=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\symbolview\SymbolView.wlx
7=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\sysinfo\SystemInfo.wlx
8=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\borlandview\SynUs.wlx
9=C:\TotalCMD\wlx\mp3tag.wlx
...BRB...

As said, if one has configured the Lister to play multimedia
and / or Irfanview intergration it doesn't display but plays.
Only on first invokation of Quick view it displays
but going to next file it plays again.

Clearly there is a conflict of how Lister should know what the user wants.

2 Ghisler

This is IMHO a bug, because also in TC551 beta, this problem persists and you cannot cycle through plugins while in "real" multimedia mode.

A similar situations and a possible workaround is here: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=162

Similarly you can invoke let’s say Winamp by pressing Enter on a mp3 file and configure TC for text viewing mp3 files with a proper association. I don’t know though if in this case there will be an association conflict with IrfanView as the case here is a bit more complex than the above topic!

Thank you all for the nice feedback about the new plugin :)

Regarding the play/view quirk, I've disabled the 'Multimedia'-option in my configuration. This displays the ID3-tag by default and if I want to play the file I press 4 within lister.

Hope this helps,
~ Florian

Indeed disabling the 'Multimedia' from the viewer config solves the problem.

Thanks for your help

At my Total Commander it solves only for F3. When using Ctrl+Q (that is more useful) only first file shows tag. The others play mp3.

How on earth didn’t I think of that! I’m lost lately! It’s probably all this sleeping at 5am waking up at 12am! :D

Do you think this problem relies upon the plug-in itself or is it a TC behaviour?! (oh, what have I just done! I’ve accused TC! That’s blasphemy! :D )
