Oh. So it's a file attribute editing function. How bizarre. Why on earth would anyone want to use that feature? I can't think of one legitimate use for stripping or editing file attributes as you pack them into an archive.

This saves space(archive gets smaller) when packing a lot of files and in most cases i don't need to save file times.

i have a issue with latest 7Zip plugin (0.6.4)
i usually click in into archive, select content and copy to destination of choice..

the problem with archives made with this, latest plugin is that my way no longer works, TC 7.5 hangs and must be killed with a baseball bat.

its not the issue with archives made by older 0.5.8 and 0.6.3 build.

any suggestions?

I have no problems with 0.6.4 here when copying files from the opened archive. What is your settings for Compression ?

The only problem I have is that if I use BZip2 as the Compression method and has set the Number of CPU threads
to more than 1 - then TC freezes.

Well, even if I use the approximately same settings as on http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/4265/sshot1b.png I cannot reproduce the error.

Since the configuration dialog has changed considerably from 0.6.3 to 0.6.4 - could you maybe provide a screenshot of the settings exactly ase you use them with 0.6.4.

And please expand the configuration dialog before making the screenshot (press the [>] button, if not already done)

I would urge to update the plugin to support new compression scheme of new 7zip, called LZMA2. It supports multicore compression (more than 2 cores), and gives a bit higher compression rate.

I cannot reproduce the error with those settings.

Is your plugin installed like this in your wincmd.ini file:

7z=95,%COMMANDER_PATH%\PLUGINS\WCX\7zip\7zip.wcx

In particular - does it say 95 right after the = sign?

Are you packing files with special characters in their names?

no, it says:
7z=223,%COMMANDER_PATH%\plugins\wcx\7zip\7zip.wcx

is it wrong if it isn't 95?
what those numbers means anyways?

2purple,

What you have there is fine. The 223 is what I use. It has "Allows searching for text in archives" added that makes it 223, which is the default setting. Get the Plug-ins Manager and it will show you what the 223 adds up to for each plugin.
chmod a+x /bin/laden -- Allows anyone the permission to execute /bin/laden

One greatly missed feature.

Hiya.

Just a quick stick in for the wanted features list.

- SPLIT VOLUME SUPPORT

Would be awsome. I'm running v0.6.4 of the plugin, and I must say it's actually really stable. I used the old 0.5.8 earlier and I must honestly say I couldn't find any big cracks in that one either, although I must confess I'm too much of "just casual user" to even have read changelog.

However. Just downloaded the 7-Zip CLI and pulled a simple test (my goal was from the scratch to check if this feature was implemented). So.

Code: Select all

7za a -v1024kb ffoxisch.7z firefox3014inst.exe
It processed and the ffoxisch.7z.001->005 came out. I could then revert the packing (extract) by an easy "7za e ffoxisch.7z.001". Tried accessing the very same ffoxisch.7z.001 in TC 7.04a, without sucess. Also tried some renaming-schemes ie. ffoxisch.z01->05, nothing yielded success though. I then checked the compression settings for the plugin and found no split volume options there neither.

So, now you know what to do till the next version! ;)

Regards~

No 223 is fine too, and is default for 0.6.4 af Boofo points out - but 255 or 735 might cause trouble.

The number is the sum of one or more of these:
1: Can create new archives
2: Can modify existing archives
4: Can handle multiple files in one archive
8: Can delete files from archive
16: Supports the options dialog
32: Supports packing in memory
64: Detects archive type by content
128: Allows searching for text in archives
256: Don't open with Enter, only with Ctrl+PgDn
512: Supports encryption

(from the help file - section 4b - wincmd.ini)

Sticking with the default settings is usually the safest way to go, unless you really know what you are doing. Experimenting is OK, too, at times.

I agree - the 95 value was stuck in my ini file from a prior version 0.5.4 of the 7zip plugin which had 95 as default.
